02 05 2007 - Trip to Kaliningrad region

27-30 April 2007 VHHC organised trip to Kaliningrad region. Participants: 2 club members - Dainius, Andžej and 4 other LT hitchhikers. During trip they visited Sovetsk, Kaliningrad, Pionersk, Rybachiy. Also organized hikes in dunes scarps, forest, swamp and ex military station surrounding on Efa hill. |

The Aleid Smid Television Company from Holland filmed TV programme about hitchhiking and Vilnius hitchhiking club. During filming VHHC members interviewed by TV journalists. After that they organized mini hitchhiking competition Vilnius Europe Geographic Centre". In competition took part 2 VHHC members: Dainius Kinderis and Andžej Miloš in pairs with Holland journalists.

06 04 2007 - Dainius returned from Africa

Yesterday, after 5,5 months spent in Africa VHHC member Dainius Kinderis reached Lithuania. He hitched 18181 km. across 15 countries including: Morocco (Western Sahara), Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, DRC (ex Zaire), Angola, Namibia and RSA in transit. Due to failure getting Senegal and RSA visas Dainius was not able to reach westernmost and southernost projections of African continent. |

Two club's members, Andrius Jankaitis and Vita Vadoklyte today came back from 34 days trip in south of Spain, Morroco and Portugal. Route trip: Granada (E) - Tarifa - Tanger (MA) - Asilah - Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakesh - Essaouira - Agadir - Quarzazate - Er-Rachidia - Merzouga (Sahara desert) - Meknes - Fes - Chefchaouene - Ceuta (E) - Seville - Faro (P) - Algarve region - Lisboa - Sintra - Porto. |

After succesfull transit through Angola with forged visa Dainius visiting Namibia and staying here till his last days in Africa due the difficulties getting RSA visa. He comes back 5th of april. |

07 03 2007 - Awards of best travellers of Lithuania
|
Competition for a title of the best traveller "Magelan of Lithuania" has finished today. We are very glad, because of the fact, that 5 top positions in the top are occupied by HITCH-HIKERS. 3 of them are (or have been) members of Vilnius Hitch-hiking Club (VHHC).
The first place went to member of VHHC, former administrator of the club - Dainius Kinderis. This hitchhiker has been awarded already 3 times as the best hitchhiker of VHHC year, and in October 2006 also awarded as the best VHHC's hitchhiker of the decade by the number of countries, where he has been hitch-hiking. Currently Dainius hitchhikes in Namibia.
The second place went to former VHHC's member Dmitri Botkin. In year 2006 he has travelled around the globe through 4 continents: Europe, Asia, Australia-Oceania and South America.
The third place went to Justas Ketlerius. Currently Justas continues his trip around the World in South East Asia and passes his greatings from Rangun (Burma).
The fourth place went to member of VHHC and former vice-president of the club Augustas Kligys. He was the first in the history of VHHC, who was awarded as the best traveller of the year back in year 1997 and he still is active hitch-hiker by now. In October last year Augustas was also awarded as the best VHHC's traveller of the decade by amount of kilometres covered by hitchhiking. Currently Augustas and his girlfriend Katja continue their hitch-hiking trip around the World. Two days ago they have reached Panama by hitched boat from Cuba.
The fifth place went to Egle Joana Satkute. She travelled in Europe and Asia last year.
By the way, even 4 of 5 travellers are members of HospitalityClub!

Two club's members, Augustas Kligys and Katja Lachman, after 6 days sailing by hitched boat from Cuba, has reached Panama's port city Colon. Congratulations!

28 02 2007 - Dainius Kinderis in Angola

At last! After the 4th try, VHHC's member Dainius Kinderis was issued Angola's visa in Matadi town (Congo). Currently he is in capital city Luanda.

After dramatic stretch of journey in Nigeria (visa in perfect shape was almost rejected at border post) and a lot of insecurity problems, Dainius passed Nigeria and a few days ago arrived in Cameroon. Visa to Cameroon costed outrageous 110 USD. Currently Dainius stays in Douala port. Next move to the capital of Cameroon, Yaounde. |

18 01 2007 - To Cuba by hitched boat

Club's members Augustas Kligys and Katja Lachman have gotten a boat (trimaran) ride from Mexico to Cuba and on January 18 arrived to Cuba. Congratulations! |
